Introduced to the music business by Frankie Avalon, at the time when record producers were looking to the South Philadelphia neighborhoods in search of teenage talents with good looks, Fabian Forte mainly approached singing as a way to support his family, due to his father's illness. Backed by songwriters Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman writing for him, Fabian released a series of hit singles on Chancellor Records and his debut album 'Hold That Tiger' reached #5 in US chart. Whilst never the greatest of singers (he would fine greater success as an actor), during the late 50's Fabian  was projected as something of a teen idol, helped by a string of hits and numerous appearances on American television.
