Come Swing With Me!
Frank Sinatras dissatisfaction with his Capitol contract led him to start his own label called Reprise. This LP underlines an important transitional period in Frank Sinatras career. Come Swing with Me!, recorded during March 20-22, 1961, marks Sinatras final swing session for Capitol (as his next and final album for the label, Point of No Return, was a collection of torch songs). As Richard Havers stated in his 2004 biography Sinatra: Between 1954 and 1959, Capitol had released 11 Sinatra albums, excluding his compilations, Christmas, and movie recordings; Frank was prolific. Then, after No One Cares came out in August 1959, the well went dry. Frank was unhappy with his deal, and he went on strike. With the level of success he was enjoying, he wanted to negotiate a new deal where he had a greater share of the profits. Capitol had baulked at this and by the time Alan Livingston returned to the label there was something of an impasse. Frank was refusing to record any more material until his demands had been satisfied.
