Hailing from Barcelona, the Kinky Coocoo’s is a long trayectory devoted to classic jamaican rhythms band. Actually they are one of the bands who play more oftenly live in Europe, mostly offering their catchy rocksteady and classic ska – reggae performance, but also backing jamaican glories like Dave Barker, Earl 16, Sister Audrey, Roy Ellis or Laurel Aitken before he passed away.
12 piece group over the stage, 3 singers, 4 horns, double bass and 4 girls is the recipe for dancing allnight long.
Their first album was recorded with barcelonian singer Lord Kaya, titled ‘Co Tonga Tonga’. Montjuich Boneyard is their second new album which features 17 original tracks plus 2 fantastic covers like ‘Band Of Gold’ and ‘Sugar Pie’ and very some special guests as the jamaican glory Dave Barker or Ruben Lopez.
This new album is full of Rocksteady rhythms plus some other traditional jamaican styles like the classic Reggae and Ska. It’s crowdy line up with 4 singers and some of the best musicians from the Catalunya’s scene prove both on album and on the stage the name that rules today.
The album was recorded at the ‘Kinkylab’, their own recording studio, keeping a tender production, both in the musical and in the esthetic way.
