Todo Hombre Es Una Isla
Daniel Flores
LP - 2012
‘Todo Hombre Es Una Isla’ was recorded during the first semester of 2011 mainly in Buenos Aires, but also in Sao Paulo, Santander, Nueva York and San Francisco, besides some other places. Far away from being a ‘solo’ album it is not just an individual work: there are over 25 musicians from six different countries playin in the album. All of them mixed, conceptually. You couldn’t find the same line up in two different tracks: eg. on ‘Hard Man Fe Dead’ cover (Prince Buster), you could find the japanese Atsushi Ukito on guitar, with the american Victor Rice on bass, or the spanish Smooth Beans on the vocals and Esteban Descalzo on percussion. In the repertory there are absolutely new compositions, some Satélite Kingston versions and covers from the above mentioned Buster, Tom Waits and Frank Sinatra, sailing beyond rocksteady, ska or reggae sounds.
