GuitArt Duet Tribute To The Great Ernest Ranglin

Javier García, guitarrist and band leader from The Oldians, invites renowned spanish guitar player Javier Martín Boix, for paying tribute to the great Ernest Ranglin, interpreting ‘Big Business’, an original song written by the Jamaican legend.

In this great studio recorded tribute, The Oldians band leader, Javier García, plays the main melodies with his distinctive guitar style, while Javier Martín Boix (aka Javibi) joins The Oldians playing the picking. But, when the solo comes, we can assist to a conversation of those two guitars, with that jazzy language that them both learnt from Ernest Ranglin.

Reggae producer Santi Mijarra, aka Puppa Shan, mixes the song and provides the dub version on the B side. Couldn’t be anyone else, for mixing such quintessential tune, guitars and musical project.

As Javier García says: “it is just a duet, not a guitar ‘duel’, being this our aim since the beginning”. And Javibi remarks: “We respect the music overall, it is not a reason for showing any skills, and I think it is just what the listener is about to find. Big Business is a mission, not a competition”.
