Jim Murple Memorial

The legendary Jim Murple left his homtown Louisiana looking for the Jamaican shore, he joined some local musicians and created the jamaican R&B. The legendary sound from which the new Ska sound was borned and lately became Rocksteady and Reggae, immortalized by the likes of Justin Hinds, Ken Boothe or Bob Marley.

We could never ever dance to this original music styles without Jim Murple’s labour cruising the path drawn by Fats Domino, Bo Diddley, Rosco Gordon, etc… Seven musicians in the ‘Search For The Lost Sound’ (A La Recherché d’Un Son Perdu), in search of the warm and spontaneous music, recorded in their own music studio.

The band records their albums at home with their old mixers, analog recorders and vintage effect racks and microphones. Their interest for the old rhythms and grooves, and overall, the desire of Jim Murple not been forgotten,made this 7 piece band join together in 1997. But they are not just a studio band, they are live performing adicts. From the beging, starting playing at many different clubs in Belleville’s popular area, up to date they have played over 700 gigs allover Europe and North America.
