Double Jabs

Double Jabs aren’t just a bunch of beginners at the gym, they have been part of the great and the good of the Jamaican music scene over the last 20 years in Catalonia.

The front man of the Double Jabs team is ‘Gos The Boss’, the legendary keyboardist and songwriter from the ska band The Cabrians. Gos has been throwing power punches into the ska scene for many years and has created anthems for a whole generation of lost youth. In this album, his new project, he compiles his most personal works and plays them in reggae style, his passion.

The other fighters of Double Jabs team, Alejo Peloche and Javier García, are his old mates who already have shared some battles in the band Flight 404. Alejo is a master of reggae drum grooves and a renowned trombonist in bands like The Kinky Coo Coos or The Blackstarliners. Javier is the incredible guitarist and songwriter for the fantastic band The Oldians. He is a session guitarist who also plays in the main backing bands that tour with Jamaican stars when they come to our country.

The key piece in the rhythm section on Double Jabs is the neck and four strings of a real bass guitar soul groover, ‘Fran Palmero Mystic Man’. His dangerous playing with Soweto, Ranking Soldiers, and Slingshots is enough to take anybody’s breath away. The elegant touch in this group of reggae fighters comes from the most charming saxophonist that has ever jumped into thering, Ricard Vinyets. His agile and refined saxophone has been playing for twenty years in bands like Amusic Skazz Band, The Oldians or The Cabrians.

These guys are jumping into the ring with courage and enough battles behind them to sound like the Jamaican session bands from the late 1960s, such as Upsetters, Dynamites, Crystalites, Hippy boys, or Sound dimension. This killer combo has the perfect support of a genuine diamond in the rough on vocals, Memi Sillah. Sillah’s beautiful voice and her Jamaican attitude transform the songs of Double Jabs into undeniable hits.
